Detak privacy policy
Last updated: 2026-10-27
This policy explains what the Detak app, made by runupbiz, does with your information. In short: your monitors and their history stay on your phone, and the free version shows one ad from Google.
In short
- Your monitors, their checks and incidents are stored only on your phone.
- No account, no Detak server, no analytics or crash reporting of our own.
- A Google AdMob banner on the monitor list collects some device data for Google.
- We do not sell your data; where US state law counts ad data as sale or share, Google's message offers you the opt-out.
What Detak stores, and where
The monitors you add (name, address or host and port, check settings, tags, quiet hours and maintenance windows), the passwords, tokens and header values you type for them, every check result for 90 days and then one summary per day, incidents for 365 days, the times your phone was offline, the list of background run times, and your settings.
All of it stays in Detak's private storage on your phone. Passwords, tokens and header values are encrypted with a key kept in the Android Keystore. Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer are turned off for this data. A backup file exists only if you export one, only where you save or send it, and it leaves out passwords and tokens unless you switch them on.
What goes over the network
Checks: Detak sends the requests you set up from your phone directly to the hosts you entered, with the credentials and headers you gave them. These requests go to the services you monitor, not to us.
Ads: the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) is part of the app and its own start-up component starts with the app. It loads a banner on the monitor list. Before Detak initialises it or requests any ad, people in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland see Google's consent form. Detak asks Google for non-personalised ads. For the ad, Google collects device or other identifiers (such as the advertising ID), approximate location, app interactions and diagnostics, and handles them under Google's privacy policy.
What Detak never does
Detak has no account and no server of its own, runs no analytics or crash reporting of our own, and never sells or shares your monitors.
Your choices
Where Google's consent form applies, Settings > Privacy > Ad privacy choices lets you change your answer at any time. You can turn notifications off and pause or delete any monitor.
Deleting your data
Settings > Delete all data removes your monitors with their checks and incidents, the maintenance windows, the offline record and the check settings. It keeps the list of background run times and the phone key. Uninstalling Detak removes everything it stores. We hold no copy, so there is nothing else for us to delete.
Children
Detak is a tool for people who run websites and services. It is not directed at children.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes and the app's Privacy screen changes in the same release.
